It's important to keep the horizon of peace before us, even when we take up a duty that appears to some to be the opposite.

The opposite of course can happen. But other than the opposites dictated by a presumptuous binary logic, we do well to consider contraries. Contrary =/= Contradictory. We must remember that, and the eschatological ultimate horizon of Christian faith--the Coming of the Kingdom of God as the foundation of all Christian ethics (Herman Bavinck: cf Cornelius Jaarsma).
